We're engineering
a better robot
Every part of Obward is designed, printed and assembled in our Lusaka lab as a platform for robotics, computer vision and human-robot interaction research. See more specifications.
Perceptive
Twin optics and a camera module above them let Obward find faces in a crowd, hold eye contact and follow the person talking to him — the difference between a prop and a robot people queue to meet.
- Optics
- Twin expressive displays
- Vision
- Camera module, face tracking
- Audio
- Microphone array and speaker
Interactive
He greets guests, answers questions, runs a scripted demo for a launch, or takes an open Q&A in a school hall. Scripts are written with you before the date, so what he says is yours, not ours.

- Modes
- Scripted or live-driven
- Content
- Written with you in advance
Event-ready
Obward travels in a flight case with his own power, lands with two engineers, and is set up and running inside an hour. He needs a two-metre square, a wall socket and somewhere shaded if you are outdoors.
- Set-up
- Under 1 hour
- Footprint
- 2 m × 2 m
- Power
- Battery, 230 V top-up
Built here
Designed in CAD, 3D printed and wired in-house. Nothing is imported and re-badged, which is why the crew who arrive with him can open him up on the day if they need to.
- Built in
- Lusaka, Zambia
- Crew
- Two engineers included
- Platform
- Embedded, sensors, CV, AI
